TRIP ITINERARY
***The itinerary is subject to change depending on weather, scheduling changes etc. ***
Aug 15 - Saturday Day 1: Please plan to arrive at the Toronto , ON airport before noon. Take into consideration time for customs and eat lunch prior. We will have transportation awaiting you for the remaining trip to Mattawa, ON ( 4hrs). You can also fly directly into North Bay if you choose, at your own cost or if you’re driving, meet me in Mattawa after 5pm EST. We will all meet at a beautiful riverside cabin in Mattawa, Ontario. You will have time to relax, get to know the group and get a good nights sleep. Supper will be provided. With plenty of room, everyone will have their own bed.
Aug 16 - Sunday Day 2: The day will start with a hearty breakfast cooked on site by our private chef. We will spend the morning with Kirstyn Smith of Sigma Archery, learning the fundamentals and how to effectively send your arrow down range! After lunch, we will cover Wilderness First Aid with Wilderness First Responders, Chelsea and Lyndsay. Although this will be condensed, it will be a great introduction on what to do in a backcountry emergency and how to be prepared. We will then enjoy a delicious home cooked meal and pack our bags for camping!
Aug 17 - Monday Day 3: Early Tuesday morning, we will have a hearty breakfast at the lodge. We will prepare for our adventure by going over the pack list to ensure everyone has all the items they need and how to pack. Anything you don’t need to camp will be left at my house. We will head out to shoot rifles on our way to the canoe launch point. Your instructor will teach the fundamentals, rifle drills and most importantly get you comfortable shooting no matter your skill level. After lunch, we will head to our launch point to begin our canoe trip! After a canoe demo and safety brief, we will set off into the wilderness! The first day will be to “dip our toes in” and get a feel for canoeing. It will be a short canoe to our first camping spot where will cover how to set up tents, filter water, cooking meals etc.
Aug 18- 21 Tuesday - Friday: Camp days! The fun begins and the adventure starts as we embark on our journey and let mother nature take the lead. We will move through our route towards our exit point, moving camp sites multiple times. Along the way we learn a variety of skills as they come up organically. Survival skills, basic navigation, water filtration, emergency situations, shelter building, bushcraft skills and more.
Aug 21 Friday Day 7: Up early, we will pack up camp and head to our final pickup point for an early departure. We will then head to a beautiful resort, where all your belongings will be waiting. You’ll have the opportunity to shower and enjoy a meal.
Aug 22 - Saturday Day 8: Up early, we will stop for a Canadian farewell breakfast at Tim Hortons. We will plan to be back at the Toronto airport for noon. Keep in mind customs can take anywhere from 20 mins to 3 hrs. I recommend booking your return flight for anytime after 3pm EST.
